Domestic LPG Cylinder Prices Increased by ₹50: Cooking Gas Becomes Costlier
From today, April 8th, the cost of domestic LPG cylinders has been increased by ₹50. This hike is expected to disrupt household budgets, affecting families across Uttarakhand and the country.

In a move that is sure to add to the financial burden of the common people, the price of domestic LPG cylinders has been increased by ₹50, effective from April 8th. This hike, which has been implemented across the entire country, is a major setback for households, as it will directly impact their monthly budgets.
According to the notification issued by the central government, the price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has increased by ₹50 from today. This price hike will apply to both general category LPG cylinders as well as those under the Ujjwala Yojana, further straining household expenses.
In Uttarakhand, the price of a general category 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder, which was previously ₹822, has now increased to ₹872. Meanwhile, under the Ujjwala Yojana, a 14.2 kg cylinder, which was available for ₹522, will now cost ₹572. This increase is expected to significantly affect the cooking gas budget for households across the state.
Along with the rise in LPG prices, the central government has also increased the excise duty on diesel and petrol by ₹2 per liter. However, the government has assured that this increase will not reflect in the market prices of petrol and diesel, citing the global fall in crude oil prices. As a result, despite the excise duty hike, the prices of petrol and diesel are expected to remain the same.
The government explained that the rise in excise duty on petrol and diesel is due to the drop in international crude oil prices, which has allowed for the increase in excise rates without affecting retail fuel prices. From Tuesday, the excise duty on petrol will be ₹13 per liter, and on diesel, it will be ₹10 per liter.
