Himgiri Express to Resume Operations with New Halt at Roorkee Station from April 6

In a major update for railway passengers in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, the Himgiri Express is set to resume operations from April 6, after a break of three years. The newly restored service will offer a much-needed halt at Roorkee Railway Station in Haridwar district, providing considerable relief to passengers traveling between Jammu and Howrah. This new stop at Roorkee is expected to ease travel for people heading to various stations along the Jammu-Howrah route, as they will no longer need to go through multiple intermediate stations.

The halt at Roorkee is significant as the station has been classified as an "A" grade station and is a part of the central government’s Amrit Railway Station scheme. Roorkee is an essential junction in the Moradabad division, serving over 40 pairs of trains and covering a distance of up to 2000 kilometers. However, the Himgiri Express had not stopped at Roorkee for the past three years, much to the inconvenience of travelers.

Before this announcement, passengers traveling to Jammu and Howrah often faced difficulties due to fully booked tickets on other trains like Sialdah and Punjab Mail Express. This was particularly problematic during peak seasons like festivals or for people visiting religious destinations. A large number of working professionals also use these routes, and with trains being full, they often had to endure uncomfortable travel situations. The resumption of Himgiri Express and its new halt at Roorkee is a direct response to these concerns, bringing much-needed relief to passengers.

As per the new schedule, the Himgiri Express will operate three days a week. The train will travel approximately 2000 kilometers between Jammu and Howrah. On April 6, the train 2332 (Jammu Tawi-Howrah Himgiri Express) will reach Roorkee at 7:38 AM and depart at 7:40 AM. Similarly, the 12331 (Howrah-Jammu Tawi Himgiri Express) will halt at Roorkee on April 5 at 3:10 AM for two minutes.

This resumption of services is expected to help passengers from major stations like Jammu, Pathankot, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Sultanpur, Varanasi, Buxar, Patna, and Howrah. With the new stoppage at Roorkee, the passengers will experience a more seamless and comfortable journey, reducing the need for long detours and offering greater convenience.
