Harleen Kaur Rekhi Brings Charm and Quirk to Her Grey Role in Binddii
Actress Harleen Kaur Rekhi opens up about playing Sudha, her first grey-shaded role, in Colors TV’s new show Binddii and how the character adds drama, fun, and tradition to the story.

Colors TV’s latest offering Binddii is winning hearts, and one of the standout performances comes from Harleen Kaur Rekhi. Known recently for her divine portrayal of Kamdhenu Guamata, Harleen now takes a leap into a completely new territory, stepping into the world of layered characters with her role as Sudha.
Sudha, as Harleen describes, is the “tarka of the house” — the spice that keeps things interesting. She is loud, dramatic, and unapologetically driven by her hunger for money and a better life. Her family’s past, where they once enjoyed wealth but lost it all, shapes her ambitions and keeps her constantly hustling. “Sudha is the entertainer of the family,” Harleen says. “At times, you may feel she troubles little Binddii too much, but her quirks and mannerisms make her fun to watch.”
For Harleen, this role is particularly meaningful because it marks her first dive into grey shades. “I never hesitated in taking it up,” she explains. “I’ve always wanted to explore versatility. Playing only positive roles can be limiting—grey and even negative shades help an actor grow. Every character leaves you with something new, and Sudha is no exception.” It’s a bold move that allows her to break away from conventional portrayals and showcase her range as an actress.
One of the things Harleen cherishes most about Sudha is her traditional look. Decked up in sarees, sindoor, and mangalsutra, Sudha reflects the cultural essence of Indian households. “I love wearing sarees, sindoor, and mangalsutra,” she says with pride. “They are symbols of our Indian values and culture. While many shy away from them today, I feel proud—both as Harleen and as Sudha—to carry them forward.”
The actress admits that while television schedules are known for being grueling, she finds joy in the process. “When you love your work, nothing feels like a burden,” she smiles. “Our production house is very organized—we get scripts in advance, which makes preparation easy. For me, stepping on set every day feels like a blessing.”
Harleen also has high praise for her co-stars, particularly Abhishek Rawat, who plays her husband on the show. “He’s not only a brilliant actor but also a wonderful person who makes everyone comfortable. Radhika and the kids are equally talented and switch into their characters effortlessly.”
With Binddii now on air, Harleen’s quirky grey character is quickly becoming a fan favorite. By embracing Sudha’s complexity, she adds spice to the drama and depth to the story, making every scene she’s in worth watching.
