Good news, 50% discount will be available on electricity bills from the month of October, order issued after CM's announcement
There is a relief news for about 11.50 lakh electricity consumers of Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had announced a 50 percent discount in the bill for electricity consumers on September 16. In this regard, a government order has been issued by the Energy Secretary. Under the order, 50 percent subsidy will be given to domestic category electricity consumers who use up to 100 units of electricity every month. In the high Himalayan areas, even if you spend up to 200 units of electricity per month, you will get the benefit of 50 percent discount in the bill. This discount will be applicable on the electricity spent from September 1. That is, the bill that will come in the month of October will get a discount of 50 percent.
According to the government order issued by Energy Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, such electricity consumers of domestic category of snow-covered area who use up to 200 units of electricity every month will be given 50 percent subsidy. That is, now they will have to pay only half the electricity bill. The benefit of the scheme will be provided only after determining the snow-bound area on the basis of the height above sea level of the concerned area as per the prevailing rules. Whereas, such consumers of domestic category of other areas whose contracted power load is up to 1 kilowatt and monthly power consumption is up to 100 units, will be provided 50 percent subsidy in electricity rates (including electricity tax). This subsidy will be permissible on electricity consumption from 01 September 2024.
A family will be able to avail the benefit of subsidy on one connection only. The burden of subsidy will be borne by the state government. Let us tell you that on the occasion of his birthday on September 16, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had made this announcement, which the Energy Department has issued a government order implementing it within 10 days.

The decision of subsidy in electricity bill has been taken with the aim of providing relief to the economically weaker and middle class families of the state.
