Dheeraj Dhoopar Makes Grand Telugu Debut with ‘Kalavaram’, Begins Shooting in Hyderabad

Television heartthrob Dheeraj Dhoopar, known for his role in the hit show Kundali Bhagya, is all set to make his debut in the South Indian film industry. The actor is stepping into Tollywood with his upcoming Telugu film Kalavaram, and the shooting is currently progressing rapidly at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.

In a recent interview with IANS, Dheeraj opened up about his excitement and journey into South cinema. He shared, “Television has always been my first love. It’s the medium that gave me recognition and success, and I will always remain grateful for that.”

Despite his love for television, Dheeraj had long harbored the desire to work in the South film industry. However, due to the demanding nature of TV shoots — which often involve 6 to 7 days of work per week — he couldn’t take up film opportunities earlier. “I believe that opportunities come at the right time, and for me, this is that perfect moment,” he said.

Talking about his role in Kalavaram, Dheeraj revealed that he will be seen in a villainous avatar, a significant shift from his usual romantic hero image on television. “I went to meet the producer, and before I knew it, I had agreed to the project. I’ve always wanted to be a part of Tollywood, and now I’m ready to embrace the challenge,” he added. 

The actor also spoke about his desire to be a part of all forms of entertainment — including OTT platforms, films, and television. “Now that I have the chance to connect with fans across different platforms, I’m really enjoying the journey. I’m still open to working on television, but I also want to explore new mediums.” 

Dheeraj shared behind-the-scenes glimpses from the sets of Kalavaram on his Instagram, giving fans a sneak peek into his South debut. The film is expected to showcase a new side of the actor, as he transitions from the small screen to the silver screen with style.
